How to Request Letters of Recommendation.

What is a "specific" letter of recommendation request?
A student requests that a specific teacher submit a letter to a specific college of their choice.
For example, if a students prefer to have a specific subject area teacher submit a letter to a specific school then this student may consider placing a specific request if they want to ensure this specific teacher submits to this specific school. Please note, most schools accept general letters.
What is a "general" letter of recommendation request?
A student requests that a specific teacher submits a letter to all of their schools that accept a letter of recommendation. Please note, if a school does not accept a recommendation or reaches the maximum number of recommendations that can be submitted for the student, the teacher will be blocked from submitting a letter.
Letters of recommendation cannot be submitted by a teacher until students match their Common App + Naviance and waive FERPA.
What is FERPA? FERPA, or the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, is a federal law that protects the privacy of students' educational records. The College Office cannot submit transcripts or letters of recommendation via Naviance if FERPA is not waived. We instruct students to connect their Common App + Naviance and waive FERPA during the push-in lessons in the fall.
If a student needs support with matching their CA + Naviance and waiving FERPA they should book an appointment with the College Office Intern using the link in the Google Classroom.
