Below are the activities for the month of March. Within each day there are 4 activities, one for each week of the month.  Some relate more to the monthly theme than others, but all have the potential to be useful  and enjoyable.  You are not obligated to complete each of these activities. Be flexible with this outline... go off script and realize that some may take more than one session and others may be requested to be repeated. Listen to what your students want and have fun with it :)

Monday

Week 1: Maintaining Relationships: Students discuss ideal relationships and what it takes to maintain a friendship (15 minute discusison) Second Step Link

Week 2: Seeds of Conflict - Students discuss how conflicts start and ways to keep them from getting serious (15 minute discussion, Second Step link)

Week 1: Dating Discussion - short discussion on boundaries/dating 15 minutes (Second Step Link)

Week 2: Love (Heart Jigsaw)Students think of actions that demonstrate love and reflect on the definition of love. 

Week 3: Circle Chat - Respectful Relationships - articulate interpersonal skills to build and maintain respectful and inclusive relationships

Week 4:

Week 1: The Rules of Difficult Conversations - have students read an article and then discuss helpful ways to have difficult conversations. Have each student right down helpful sentence starters.

Week 2:  Role Play Difficult Conversations - students role play difficult conversations using helpful sentence starts (Sometimes I feel…I didn’t like it when…I feel like…)

Week 1: Quiz: Is this a toxic friendship - a short 10 question quiz to helps students identify if their friendship is toxic or healthy. After quiz an article is provided for them to read based on their respones.

Week 2: Literacy Activity: Dealing with a Toxic Friendship  - read an article together as a class and pause to discus after each paragraph.

Week 1: Compliment Toss - Students form a circle and toss a ball back and forth, giving a compliment to each person they throw the ball to.
