The State College Area School District has a team of mental health professionals who provide School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) services to students.
The purpose of SBMH is to provide therapy services to the students of SCASD in hopes of eliminating barriers that may prevent students from receiving mental health services.
These services are short-term, meaning that clients meet with the provider for approximately ten to twelve sessions while the therapist and client work to get connected to community providers if long-term therapy is needed. The providers below provide students 50-minute therapy sessions, group sessions, informational presentations, and more. Please feel free to reach out to any of them with any questions.
To receive mental health counseling from one of our SCASD mental health providers, please contact your assigned school counselor and request they complete our "School-Based Mental Health Referral Form." Cases are reviewed weekly during the school year and matched with a provider based on preference and availability.
Please note that direct referrals are NOT accepted, and all students/caregivers requesting services must be processed through the School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) process.
