Graduate Study Credit/STI Credits
Salary class
Salary adjustments for certified graduate study credit are made by September 1 for study completed during the previous twelve months. This includes course work taken through the STI. Teachers who apply on or before November 15 will receive salary credit for the new class retroactively to September 1 and teachers who apply on or before April 15 will receive salary credit for the new class retroactively to February 1. Salary class adjustments will be made within three pay periods of receipt and subsequent approval of the application (see attachment) and all necessary supporting documents.
Approval for study credit forms (available in the HR Office and principal's office) must be filled out by the teacher and signed by the building principal then sent to the Personnel office for final approval. As per the Board of Education/STA Agreement all courses must be accredited graduate courses. In unusual circumstances teachers may apply for salary credit for undergraduate courses. Teachers must apply in writing prior to registering for the course. The Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, on behalf of the Superintendent, may authorize credit for such courses within his/her sole discretion.
Stipends
A teacher who is at MA+75 shall receive a stipend of $300 for each graduate credit from an accredited institution earned past MA+75 upon meeting the application and approval procedure referenced above. Stipends for STI and graduate course work taken will be paid throughout the year. For STI courses deemed "enhanced stipend" courses, teachers may earn $325 for each credit.
