The items below are for the first few days of class and designed to act as an introduction to the class.
Marking period should consist of 2 presentations, 1-2 quizzes, 1-2 tests, 5-10 homework assignments and 1 project (honors essays do not count as a project but will be graded as a project). Unit lengths, school activities, snow days and other events could hinder the work load.
Taking notes in this class and every class is difficult. Some of you will use massive paragraphs and only review your notes on test day. In class, I will use headings such as B, C, D and so on. The headings represent different topics. Notes will not save you in this class! To be successful, I suggest looking up the items we discuss or reading your text book in conjunction with the note headings from class. Then combine your notes with the new information you are reading by putting the information in your own words. This will help you be successful in every class!
Look for the Study Guide icon to locate test and quiz review guides in each unit. The first test is on WWI. Make sure you locate the review and sample tests under WWI review guide.
Presentations are a big part of this class. Review the guidelines under the presentation tab. By the end of the year yo will improve your presentation skills or at least find new ways to present.
There is no textbook for this class, therefore it's crucial that you come to class and complete notes.

Much time was invested in creating a screencast for every daily lesson. If you miss a discussion, day assignment and are directed to complete the screencast form to make up for a 0, then this is the form you need to complete. Watch the screencast for the day missed and complete the following for some credit.
I restrict your sites for in class citations to only Jstor articles, articles from the NY Times found on Proquest, in class sources and primary sources. No other sources are allowed to be referenced in essays. If you notice there are two tabs on this site, 1-2 marking period sources and 3-4 marking period sources. For some topics, I have read and uploaded articles. Review the Proquest tab, and the sources tabs on this site.
There are two tabs for writing on this site. One is for academic while the other is for honors classes. Review the guidelines posted in these tabs and sample essays. Often students admit to not reviewing these files which results in low grades. Understand if you are in honors essays will be challenging. That is the difference between academic and honors classes. If you signed up for an honors class, I assume you have a certain writing ability and a strong interest in history.
