I Message Chart

I-Messages Lesson Parent Letter

Children learn that communication is a two way process. After learning how to be active listeners and we review how to share our thoughts and feelings using an I-message. We practice sharing how we feel, why we feel that way and what we need in a helpful way. When using I-messages, we can use our words in an assertive manner without name calling or placing blame on the other person.
