History
School's Out began in 2001 as an after school program at all three of South Burlington's elementary schools serving 90 total students. Over the last 20 years our programs have increased to nearly 100 students at each elementary school. While the programs have continued to grow, School's Out remains committed to providing children a safe environment where they are given an opportunity to express themselves and develop socially, physically, academically, artistically, emotionally, and creatively through a program that nurtures and respects the uniqueness of each and every child. We work to provide activities that will engage and attract each student. We partner with the school and families to ensure we are providing the best possible care for each child at the level that is developmentally appropriate for them.
Our programs operate from school dismissal (2:15pm) until 5:30pm, Monday- Friday. We offer extended care on early release days and Vacation Camps throughout the school year during school breaks (there are separate registrations for these). School's Out also offers a variety of Summer Camps for 8 weeks during the summer.
Starting in 2010 we began a summer reading initiative to combat summer learning loss. Over the years we have adapted our reading programs to suit our students. We offer D.I.R.T. (Daily Independent Reading Time), Buddy Reading, Reader's Theater (acting out stories), Read Aloud, and even Comic Book Creation.
