Deidra is a CTE Curriculum Specialist at San Bernardino County ROP with over eighteen years of Career and Technical Education experience. Deidra taught Fashion Marketing and Career Planning and Management courses at Colton High School for ten years and has spent over eight years in various positions that connect industry to education. One accomplishment she is genuinely proud of is the creation of #athomeWBL digital lessons during the pandemic. These lessons introduce students to careers they may have not considered and include many lessons on digital literacy, communication, and evaluating online content. These lessons are free and accessible to the public through a Google site and Pinterest. Deidra enjoys using ed-tech tools to collect and analyze data to improve student outcomes.
Deidra Puentes on Informed Digital Citizenship:
"Burning Glass Technologies did a study that showed 82% of middle skill jobs will require digital skills ... our end goal is to prepare students for employment and for them to be able to demonstrate that they have the digital skills necessary for employment."
