This session of SBCSS DigCit Week 2022, hosted by DLS, features Jennifer Brown, Regional Program Manager for Google for Education. Join Jenn as she shares the incredible things Google is doing to support teachers and families with talking to their kids about Digital Citizenship. She explains, "As teachers we recognize that the true value of technology is only realized by having a safe, positive, responsible experience online. But today, most teachers feel that they don't have, the resources or the knowledge to teach those Digital Citizenship skills to their stuents. This is why Google made the decision to develop solution to this gap." One part of this solution is Be Internet Awesome, a game-based learning tool on the topic of Digital Citizenship. Through Be Internet Awesome, students learn the five pillars of DigCit: Be Internet Sharp, Alert, Secure, Kind, and Brave. Teachers can also access downloadable lesson plans and classroom activities that focus on each of these five pillars. You can focus on one a day or extend the lessons further to create a unit of study. Whatever your needs, as an educator or parent, Jenn breaks down what Google has to offer to support you in your DigCit endeavors.
