Start.gg & SBCSS / "Socially Responsible Online Gaming"
This session of SBCSS DigCit Week 2022, hosted by DLS, discusses the topic of Socially Responsible Online Gaming. Join Brandon Louden, Program Manager for Start.gg, and Kermit Boyd, SBCSS Esports Consultant, as they discuss the unique perspective of digital citizenship within esports and gaming. Brandon began his career as a member of Xbox's safety team, working to promote positive gaming interactions amongst players. He now works for Start.gg, a subsidiary of Microsoft, that supports esports play through bracket set up and gaming management. Kermit Boyd joins this conversation as well, sharing his perspective growing up gaming and now being the parent of an active gamer. The expertise of Brandon & Kermit lead to an interesting conversation of supporting healthy gaming habits and Digital Citizenship as educators and/or parents. Resources are also provided to support individuals wanting to learn more about their student/child's passion for gaming.
