Have you considered replicating the Monday/Tuesday schedule again on Wednesday/Thursday or Thursday/Friday so that all students have access to in person classes since these classes are already 50% less populated?
We discussed but preferred tailoring in-person support to the level of need while getting all students in each week. We feel this better aligns with our equity goals and gives us flexibility to get all students in more. Again, we will have flexibility with who needs to come in Wed-Fri. Teachers will identify students in need of additional support and parents can also reach out to their school at any time with questions about their child’s needs.
How many students do you anticipate attending in person classes on Monday and how many on Tuesday?
All students will be invited to attend one of those days based on their last name (A-K Monday, L-Z Tuesday). There may be some students who still chose full remote and the content for the in-person day will be given to the students in full remote. This will enable them to stay on pace with their regular class.
How are you ensuring Monday in school kids receive the same in-school days as Tuesday kids and aren’t shortchanged by Monday holidays?
On weeks where there is a Monday holiday, the in-school days will be shifted to Tuesday and Wednesday.
What needs must be presented to qualify to receive the extra in school support days?
While we know students who struggle with remote learning are disproportionately represented in some groups (IEP services, socioeconomics, etc.), not all students in those groups struggled and there are many other students who struggled with remote learning. While we will start with students we saw struggle the most last spring, teachers will identify students who show signs of struggle this fall. The groups coming in Wed-Fri will fluctuate a bit based on this need.
