both of these strategies are ones that work really well for some people and really poorly for others. Body doubling is essentially where you are in the same space as someone else, but you are doing different things. It can also be called parallel play. sometimes it can help to tell the other person what you are working on that way you can celebrate together when it is done, and other times it could look like just going to a library or caffe with your computer/work and doing it there. body doubling works by giving you the set space and time (with the slight pressure from being perceived and around people) to work on something. I find that while this doesn't work for me at home, it works great at school or in public. I say this because for the longest time I tried to force this to work, but when I took a step back and figured out what actually helped it made a workd of difference.Â
Now onto verbal processing. verbal processing is exactly as it sounds, you process things verbally. Yuo can talk to yourself, record yourself and listen back to it, talk to someone else, or even do voice to text. it just gives you the space to get the stuff that is flying around it your head out. Sometimes people call this word vomit, or verbal brain dumping. I find it can be really helpful for projects to find where you are stuck or need to do more research, and it can really help you change the way you are thinking or speaking to yourself.
