1. General Strategy: Create a "portfolio: of five or six colleges/universities to which you would like to apply

- This “portfolio” of schools should include a range of difficulty
- 1 Safety School - you exceed their entrance requirements
- 2-3 Comfort Schools - you meet the entrance requirements
- 1-2 Reach Schools - you’d love to go but don’t quite meet the requirements
- This “portfolio” of schools should also include a range of price
- Safety school and 1 comfort should be “tuition-break” schools (i.e. in-state tuition)
- Note: Public schools in other states charge you “out of state tuition”

Early decision plans are binding: A student who is accepted as an ED applicant must attend the college. Students may only apply to one school at a time under the Early Decision plan. In early 2023, Fidelity launched Invest in My Education (ME)℠, an initiative that provides access to education and ongoing support to students of the mighty middle (2.5 – 3.59 unweighted GPA) with limited access, resources or means. The program takes a holistic approach to driving transformational change by combining student scholarships with ongoing support, including resources to complete degree programs and pathways to post-graduation employment.
