The International Studies Program is one of Mira Loma's many programs that we have to offer which makes the school so unique. Through interdisciplinary and international curriculum, students in the I.S. program gain an understanding of the world in their humanities (English, history, art) classes. Students also have a unique opportunity to participate in our school events, like Dia de los Muertos, Asian Culture Fair, Black Renaissance Day, and Pleasantville.
Check out images and videos from our annual Pleasantville event.
"I was recommended to join IS by Ms. Garzona. I love how fun the teachers are, the program makes it feel like a little community withing to the student body/school. The assignments are fun and engaging, the teachers are extremely understanding in the fact that we also have lives outside of class, they do a wonderful job at setting rules but also making sure that those rules and schedules work with students. I love how welcoming everyone in IS is, not just the teachers but it is so fun being able to grow and develop new relationships with classmates that carry out through the rest of our high school years. "I joined IS because I heard they do a lot of fun activities, they also offer a lot of college tour field trips and that specifically interests me a lot because I like exploring different colleges and what they offer and how the campus is like! Before I joined IS I was in Standard classes and we didn't do a lot of activities and did not talk a lot about college which made me had a lot of questions about the future."

"I joined IS sophomore year due to Ms Garzona's recommendation about the program. At first I was a little bit nervous about the outcome and the environment but after my first week I fell in love with it! The whole time while you are in the IS program you are with the same group of people throughout your whole experience so you tend to create bonds with them! If I could I would've joined sooner!"
