Mr. Lineback graduated from UC Davis in 2005 and earned his Teaching Credential and Masters in Education from Sac State. He enjoys reading, creative writing, movies, video games, and exercise. A bird-nerd: Ask him about the local birds. He loves helping students make goals and take control of their futures. A former IS Coordinator, he has worked with IS students since he came to Mira Loma in 2009.
Mr. Kuzmich graduated from Bella Vista HS and earned a B.A. in Government from St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA. During his junior year, Mr. Kuzmich studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France and travelled to many European countries. Mr. Kuzmich also studied in a Masters Program for International Affairs in London and at CSU, Sacramento. Mr. Kuzmich co-chairs the Mira Loma -Tanabe HS Exchange Program with our friends in Tanabe, Japan. Mr. Kuzmich has taught at Mira Loma HS since 1997.
Mrs. Ochoa grew up in Aptos and later attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton where she earned her B.A. in English. She then attended CSU, Sacramento and earned her teaching credential and Master’s degree in Literature. In 2008, Mrs. Ochoa studied in London at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre as part of a UC Davis/Mondavi Center program for educators. She is passionate about reading, traveling, and spending time with her family (and dogs). Mrs. Ochoa has been teaching at Mira Loma since 2001.
Ms. Char went to John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento, later earning her B.A. in Art from CSU, Northridge. During college, she spent a year in Florence, Italy studying art and language and then returned to Sacramento for her teaching credential at CSU, Sacramento. Pursuing her interest in travel and culture, she moved to Hokkaido, Japan for two years where she taught English, studied Japanese, learned to snowboard, and enjoyed making new friends. She has been teaching Art at Mira Loma since 2007.
Mr. Bender has stayed local his entire life, shuffling between Elk Grove, Carmichael, and Sacramento. He earned both his BA and Masters from CSUS, and has taught at Mira Loma High School since 1999. HIs involvement with the International Studies program began pretty much when he started teaching at MLHS. Mr. Bender is a big fan of collaboration and hands-on learning. His world centered around Gatsbyville for 15 years (one of the IS Junior TouchPoints) until he fell in love with the 1950's and helped bring about Pleasantville. You can usually find Mr. Bender sitting somewhere reworking his curriculum, or practicing for his next music gig with the faculty band Rat Fountain.
Ms. Garzona grew up in the Bay Area and went to high school on the beach! She then decided to move to Sacramento, to attend CSUS for her BA in government. She has been teaching at Mira Loma since 2019 and has been a part of the IS program since then. She's also the class of 2025 advisor. Currently she is getting her MA in political science so if you ever see her around she probably looks really tired. To get on Ms. Garzona's good side, talk to her about how awesome the San Francisco Giants are!
Ms. Grueneberger has been teaching at Mira Loma High School since 1992. She served as International Studies Coordinator and for five years brought I.S. students and staff to Mazatlan, Mexico to carry out a service projects. Ms. Grueneberger loves working with International Studies Seniors as they prepare to launch into the world of college and careers. She has taught in the program for over 20 years and believes in the program's capacity to bring out the best in students through interdisciplinary TouchPoints and service to their community.
Ms. Sastre-Chavez graduated from San Francisco State University with an emphasis in photography. She joined the Mira Loma team in 2012. She enjoys ceramics and started our Mira Loma Ceramic Class after it had been absent from our campus for over a decade. She has 3 daughters who have all attended schools in the San Juan District over the last 20 years. She is an avid gardener.
