The IS diploma and certificate require 100 hours of community service.
Yes, you can! Community service is not required to earn a high school diploma. Community service is part of earning the extra recognition of an IS Diploma. You can still receive the IS Certificate without completion of community service.
Ask yourself:
Am I being paid?
Am I earning credit for a class? Or toward another award?
Does this activity benefit me or my immediate family?
If the answer to any of those questions is "yes," it is not community service.
If the answer is "no," you are looking good; however, make sure you have a supervisor who can co-sign your hours and confirm that you have indeed contributed to your community.
Community service hours must be completed, logged, and submitted to the IS Coordinator by March 1st of your senior year. Submit hours here.
