The music from different places sounds special and unique. Music reflects the history, values and challenges of its people. But the reasons WHY different people make music--regardless of time and place--stay very much the same. The impulse to create, share and perform music is fundamentally human. By learning to appreciate music from other places we gain a deeper understanding of those cultures, but also of ourselves as creative, musical beings.
