Band Warm-ups and Exercises

This warm-up is a long tones exercise for individual or a group or even the full band. It's short and to the point, Do up to Sol (first 5 notes of the scale), down to low Sol and back up to Do (all 8 notes of the scale). These "cinematic" warm ups are designed to engage the listener while performing basic exercises. In addition to working on basic tone production, musicians can practice playing in tune and in time...all in a aurally engaging way.
This focuses on the first five notes on band instruments. The idea is to give a more interesting application than just a metronome and a drone (which are also fantastic).

This video and music are an accompaniment track for the Foundation Warm-Ups, Set #2. This focuses on the (typical) first seven notes on band instruments. The idea is to give a more interesting application than just a metronome and a drone (which are also fantastic to use).
This is a basic articulation exercise for one octave of the Bb Scale. This is a great way to get some articulation practice in with some added listening for fun! Nothing too fancy, just trying to spice up practicing a little bit.It also shows some of the different ways that modes are used in music. The younger musician can start connecting the sounds they hear to the larger musical picture.
