Sustained Investigation

2D Portfolio

My sustained investigation initially explored a more generic form of heartbreak; the causes and the different stages (including the incorporation of different current events such as immigration and the me too movement). I’ve decided to refine my project and focus on specifically the heartbreak of women; the kind of heartbreak that comes from oppression, betrayal, and even abuse. My investigation still explores the different emotions and stages of heartbreak, but with a focused view on the causes of that heartbreak (which has allowed me to explore more complex perspectives and ideas on my topic). In addition to the stages and emotions of heartbreak, my investigation looks at ideas such as the effects of abuse/control/manipulation on your mind and heart, the concept of generations of women experiencing this type of heartbreak in their lives, speaking out, healing, and breaking the cycle of silence.
