AP Studio Art

AP Studio Art is a year-long course with guided lessons during 1st Semester which are designed to help students refine their skills and techniques and prepare them for the work required for their Sustained Investigation. The Tunnel Book project is done at the end of 1st semester and is used as a tool to help the students focus on the idea(s) they wish to use for their Sustained Investigation. Sustained Investigations are based upon a question or inquiry that the students wish to investigate through 2D or Drawing media. Students then spend 2nd Semester building their portfolios. Each student is required to submit fifteen pieces of artwork to College Board for their Sustained Investigation. In addition to the fifteen Sustained Investigation pieces students select five pieces of work that they feel represent their very best work and show their talent and skill with specific media. These five pieces are Selected Works and may be chosen from the student's Sustained Investigation or from any work completed during the 2021/2022 school year, these pieces are also submitted to College Board. This course encourages students to become independent thinkers who will contribute inventively and critically to their culture through the making of art.
