Orchestra

Our Orchestra program allows our students to explore the world of music through strings. We offer viola, violin, cello, and bass for our students to learn.

Orchestra teaches our students self-discipline, perspectives of the world, and working together to a make a beautiful sound that helps them find a place in the world. Please check out more by watching our instructor talk more about the CPMA orchestra program.

*CPMA students do not have to purchase or rent an instrument. The school will provide a musical instrument to the student.

Course Description

Beginning Orchestra

This course provides instruction in the basic principles of musicianship and promotes familiarity with standard orchestral literature. Students will learn to play a standard instrument of the orchestra in an ensemble setting and to read and understand the language of music.

Intermediate Orchestra

This course is offered to students who have completed Orchestra 5th–8th Beginning or who have equivalent study and experience. Students will further their expertise on their chosen instrument in an ensemble setting, learning more complex musical notation, rhythms, and terminology.

Advanced Orchestra

This course is offered to students who have completed Orchestra 5th–8th Intermediate or who have equivalent study and experience. Students will learn and play advanced orchestra literature in an ensemble setting with technical skills and musical knowledge and sensitivity. Students in this course will present more frequent public performances.
