Week 3 - Hello,Hello.
In a honor of a brave girl;who traveled and leave her lovely air conditioner behind, let's start.
In a honor of a brave girl;who traveled and leave her lovely air conditioner behind, let's start.
This week assignment was revolving around the concept of 3D designing , the main assignment was to using Fusion 360 in designing a 3D model for a pencil holder, that stay staple in a flat surface . Also it was required to export .STL and . Gcode files in ordr to fabricate it using the fab lab 3D Printr.
Inspired by this online tutorial, I decide to creat my own pen holder that have carves on it.
For the designing process I used Fusion 360,and for preparing the design to be printed and sliced I used 3D Ultimaker cura with a white PLA filament.
For 3D modeling fabrication I used : Original Prus I3 MK2S Machine with PLA Flament.
Designing process
I made this pin holder design by using Revolve, Shell, Loft and circular pattern tools as in the following video. This youtube link is my week 3 designed video.

From minute1 to 3 it revealed around revolve tool , and from 3 to 5 I created the loft ,shell and filet. For the circler pattern and coloring process it started from 6 minute till the end of the video.
At the end I saved it as a .STL extension in order to sliced it in Ultimaker cura.
The design will take 54 minutes and 7 grams in order to be fabricated.
For preparing the 3D model to be printed, I used Ultimaker Cura software to generate the G.code file, which can be executed by the 3D Printer.
Machine: Original Prus I3 MK2S.
Software: Ultimaker Cura.
Materials: PLA Flament.
In order to export the G code file from cura, I download the pen holder file in the Ultimaker Cura softwarw, and choose the file dimension, support and rotation.
After perform the slicing on the software, I save it on my desktop and download it to the fablab computer in order to start the printing .
The final design takes 1 hour and 21 minutes and 10 grams to be completed after resize it as instructed.
First I checked my file with the instructor , then I put it in SD card. After that I chose the filament color that I want and started to install it on the machine by selecting from the menu load filament.
After this I inserted The SD card in the machine and chose my file then started printing.
The shape with touching build plate.
The shape with support everywhere.

In this week I worked with my college. Amr from G1 as a peer in order to create the lego torso, it was great experience as he helped me to better understand dimensions and how to read it.
Also, it was helping to hear other suggestions and different ways of making 3D pieces.
I made the pen holder three times, the first one was hard to do as I wasn't sure about the design that I'm welling to do, so I tried different shapes. The second time it turn out that the fabrication process will take more than 18 hour!!
The third time I made the holder it becomes easier ,as I preform the process couple of time.
During the midweek session I had some questions regarding designing ,dimensions and fabrication so my group instructor and colleges was helping me with it .
My first attempting to design.I was making different shapes in order to learn and choose my best buddy.
While fabricated The model in the lab Ms. Amany Ayman advice me to add more weight to the design, so I did and it turn out to be great. The design this time takes 1 hour and 21 minutes and 10 grams to be completed.

In order to create my clock, I will need fusion 360 for: designing the clock outside shape; creating my engraving pattern of the ancient Egyptian old accent seasons, and the lovely Egyptian woman with louts;and doing the assemble process to make sure that my project is in the right dimensions.
Surely, using Ultimaker cura and fusion 360 once again will help me to do my final project with more efficiency.
It was rewarding ; the fact that you are able to convert your ideas into a real item with a fair quality is refreshing.
And, voilaaaaaaaaaa.🥳📸🥳
Special thanks to my college Mohammed Abdul-Fattah for providing me with these photos of chemical product that we use in the fab lab optional activity.
