Week # - 3

Assignment

3D Print pen case from my design

Let me explain more (ideation)

1- The-Main idea is that any creative person should own many tools and pens,

here we talking about pens.

2-my main goal is to make a gorgeous pen holder using the solid feature at fusion360

that we have learned in the past week, especially (extrude-revolve-sweep)

3-Inspiration comes when I was watching a tutorial about a solid future at fusion 360

4-based on the polygon of 8 shapes (image below #1) I imagined what if I stacked a 3 polygon with a vertical space between everyone about 2.5 CM and use the loft feature

5-The final result will be a gorgeous solid shape that I imagined before

This simple shape inspires me a lot it`s very simple and it considers a contemporary element

Some sketches

First sketch by hand

  • showing the basic shape I follow

  • Helps me more with imagination processes

tool chain

1-fusion 360

Our cam software

2-Cura

The best software we can use for slicing our model

3-Prusa 3D-Pinter

Our printer

4-PLA filament

Gray PLA filament

Preparation Process

1-fusion 360

At first, sketching our polygons on a different plan,

make sure our sketch is fully defined

polygon width 50 MM

total height 52 MM

2-Then I used the fusion 360 solid feature

  • At first, extrude the first polygon 2 MM to make a model base

3-Use loft feature to make a solid body

Using the loft feature to connect different polygons to create s solid shape

4- Use shell feature

I used the shell feature to make it hollow

and wall thickness is 2mm

5- Add an appearance

I used the appearance to give it a life

6- Export STL file

After editing our model no we can export it as STL file for the next stage

7- Cura software

After finishing our model on fusion 360

now we can slice it using Cura software

8-Adjust parameter

Cura has a simple user interface, we need to adjust some parameters

to achieve the best result

1-profiles: 0.3 MM

2- infill: 20 %

support: N

Adhesion: N

Orientation: as sketched

9-Slicing

After setting parameters for our file the final result

weight:25 G

Time: 68 M

10-Machining

After all these steps finally, we can be heading to our 3D printer, turn it on, put our sd card in the machine

open our file, press enter, wait for our machine until finishing preheating and start printing, keep watching our machine about 4:5 layer vertical then we can move and come back every will to check it out tell finishing

Development Process

In the feature, I will use voronoi generator to generate random shapes to decorate the wall of the pen holder

Final Project

What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week

Fusion 360 solid feature, voronoi generator

Overcoming Challenges

1- Total weight of my model Exceeding the quota limit

  • So I decided to edit the shell feature and reduce the wall thickness which can reduce the total weigh of the final model

2-how to create a random shape implemented in my 3d designed body like shapes on a crocodile body.

  • After some search on Slack #eureka-media, I find a video link mentioned by Maram Hosni to Yasen this video was Conclusion (Video)
