Week #1
First assignment's
- laser cut
- 3d printer
Laser assignment
Ideation
My chose was a decorative element for home decoration using a 3 mm plywood
Elegant dƩcor element
loin face made by CNC co2 laser cuter using plywood
W-25cm
H-29CM
My inspiration
During browsing the internet I found a great wall decoration, that's great for decorating my room so I decided to browse (3axis),
tool chain
Rdworks user interface
1- At first, I used RDworksV8 software to set cutting parameters for my design
ODC laser CO2 machine
2- THE machine that`s used in this project is a CNC CO2 laser machine with a rated power
80 what
Plywood
3- Plywood is the best choice for this project from price, durability wise so I decided to use it
Design preparation
This video showing cutting prosses CNC LASER
My design very simple just a lion head made out of plywood for wall decoration
just drag my downloaded file and drop it into rd works software then we can chose witch color or enter the right parameter, save our file on a USB drive
then go to a CNC laser machine and turn it on and make sure that`s work propoply.
RDworks software is used for parameter setting parameters for 3mm plywood
Speed :10 MM/S
Power :60% of 80-watt laser tube
Laser machine user interface shows file during cutting prosses
My project during the cutting prosses
My project after cutting prosses
Devolpment
I decided to make a small circle in the middle upper side of my project to mount it from this circle rather than using a double side tabe
3D PRINT assignment
Ideation
In this project, we convert to a functional project another meaning I decided to make a small gadget to improve my experience during charging my smart watch (charging dock station)
My Inspiration
1- When I was watching a tutorial about using my smartwatch a found the guy hows I watch using a dock station to charge his watch, so I decided to make one to help me keep my watch safe during charging my inspiration video
So after this video, I decided to make one
( Samsung watch 4 classic charging dock STL file)
Tool chain
Cura user interface very easy and user friendly
I Used cura software to slice my model and generate g code
I used 3D printer to print my model
I chose a black filament made from PLA plastic
Example for filament made of PLA plastic
ODC fab lab 3D printer
My project after printingš„°
Design preparation
1- MY design is an STL file format so I can open it easily using cura software
2- after import STL file into cure I adjust a necessary parameter (infill, layer hight, support, adhesion)
3- My parameter at this project
layer high : .3 MM
infill : 10%
adhesion : N
support : touching build plate
4- after setting the parameter I started a machine, it takes 122 minutes, 30 GM
Development process
Original design with no edite
Increasing a viewing angle can result in a better user experience
After watching CNC machines and working with it we can gain a huge benefit
Note:
After many projects, I made before.
finally working within a time frame comes a big challenge for Me
but still able to achieve my desire + save a lot of time to do another thing
Overcoming Challenges
1- during the laser cutting process I didn`t know the right parameter for the laser machine
But I asked a fab lab specialist and we solve it
2- During 3d printing total weight was over my quota so I decided to reduce infill to reduce the total grams of filament.
