Ideation

Tell us about your assignment's idea for this week. Why do you care about this idea? What inspired you? (Please include images or links to sources of inspiration)

I have a lot of pencil and I need to separate my brushes, pencils, color pens etc. After looking for inspiration on Pinterest using the keywords from portal I found some ideas and concentrate on shapes achieve my goals .

Tool Chain

Which software/machines/materials did you use in the assignment? Why?

3D Printing machine

I going to use 3D printing machine this week to make 3D pen Holder design

PLA filament

I am going to use orange PLA plastic for this task

Fusion 360
sofware

I used fusion 360 to draw my design as its easy to use ,friendly interface and easy to modify the project on it .

Design/Preparation Process

Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?

The first idea

I start with new sketch on XZ plane drawing the half of the design putting all dimension and make sure that fully defined.

used revolve and chose the sketch, Z axis
90 degree angle .

used shell with 3mm inside thickness

using 3D circular pattern to repeat the part making the other 3 parts that user can use it as he like to separate his tools.

from appearance choose >> orange plastic

The second idea

Start by new sketch on YZ plane to draw the side of the two parts

extrude the first part on symmetric sides 40mm distance

add shell to the extruded part .3 mm width

Extrude the palette at 30 mm on symmetric sides

adding walls to the palette groove by choose the main body plane and start new sketch >>draw rectangles at specific dimensions>>end sketch.

extrude the sketch to the back end of the main body to make the walls

to make the product user friendly we need to add a place we can pull the pallet from so i start a new sketch on the bottom of the main body draw circle 6mmR.

extrude the circle to cute the main body.

I used Voronoi pattern sketch generator to generate this pattern

used emboss to apply the sketch on the one face of the main body

mirror the emboss feature using 3D mirror (YZ plane)

I used revolve to add pallet first pot.

using 3D rectangle pattern i create the second pot of the pallet

start new sketch on the top plane of the pallet.

extrude cut the sketch 4mm

adding slider joints

Development/Implementation Process

Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

As Want to try new Idea on my mind I decide to print two ideas

open the STL file on Ultimaker Cura

- the first idea scale it down to 65%
- the Second idea scale it down to 21%
- no adhesion
- no support
- 20% infill
- .15mm layer height
- 10 grams
  >>>>press slicing ....make sure the printing time under 90min >>>save to disk as g.coade.
Inserted the file to SD card then to the printer.
clean the bed with alcohol to make it easy to remove the part after printing
change the filament color by heating the nozzle and remove the existent wire then cutting the new filament wire with an angle and installing it into the machine nozzle.
choose preheating and wait until it reach 220 and 60 c for the bed
from the screen choose the file name>>start
after the print process we use cutter and Sand paper to finish the model.

using loft instead of extrude!

this week in the offline session a team used loft insted of extrude
to make a body in the exercise that make a big problem there is no side to create new sketch on it so we learned to use the right feature in the right time.

the solution was to use extrude in this case or to create sketch without filet then add filet feature to 3D model.

Ahmed Adam advice us to be careful using shell which affects on features before on the timeline and make sure of the order of the timeline.

Final Project

How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?

practice on fusion 360

This week I used:

fusion 360 more and more and make deferent things NOW I CAN MAKE ANY IDEA IN MY MIND USING FUSION 360 SOFTWARE i can used it to test joints before fabrication.
get more familiar with 3D printing and change the PLA filament color to print orange pen holder.
