7th Grade Interview written by: Adriana Jimenez, Isaac Vazquez, and Genesis Zamora
Ready to meet one of our Spartans? Meet Mitzary Mendoza! She attended Los Padres Elementary School. Originally, Mitzary was supposed to attend Washington Middle School, but her parents decided she should attend ESMS, which was a great choice! She did not join any sports this fall but is planning to join track and field in the spring. Mitzary is expecting to get B’s on her report card and she wishes to maintain those grades. So far her experience has been wonderful! During lunch she enjoys walking around the back field with her friends. Mitzary still enjoyed elementary school more than middle school, but hopes for a good school year.

We had the chance to interview Jacqueline Gonzalez, who is one of our amazing 8th graders. This year, her favorite subject is Science, because it is interesting for her. Jacqueline is ready for high school, because she gets to meet new people and experience new things. Jacqueline’s 7th and 8th grade year has been great so far, even though she decided not to try out/join any sports or clubs. She is going to miss a lot of things about this school, especially her favorite 8th grade teacher. Jacqueline likes to hang out with her friends at lunch and talk to them. She is going to go to Alisal High School when she promotes from ESMS. Although Jacqueline has gone through many things, she is planning on attending college once she is done with high school.
Jacqueline smiling for everyone :)

Let’s get to know more about Ms. Ramirez, one of our Science 7 teachers! She chose to teach science because growing up she liked biology. She's been teaching for 8-9 years, but this is only her second year working here at ESMS! If Ms. Ramirez didn't teach science, she would've been a music teacher. She said she has more interest in it than any other subject; she also said she had a passion for music. Her favorite musician is Taylor Swift - she's been a Swifty for many years. Ms. Ramirez told us if she didn’t pick teaching she would be a fashion designer since she is really into fashion. Even though Ms. Ramirez likes teaching science she says it's a really hard subject to teach. She also LOVES to eat cheese; she said it was because cheese goes with everything!

Clubs @ ESMS written by: Azalea Borrego, Fernanda Betancourt, and Carolina Nieto
What is Esports? Esports is a club that regularly meets, plays video games, and hosts tournaments once a semester. They play video games such as Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart. The club advisor is Ms. Mohondro, who works really hard getting the kids to open up and express themselves through video games. Currently, there is a Super Smash Bros tournament where students compete against each other to see who is most skilled. Ms. Mohondro believes people should consider joining this club because students get to bond between their community and it gets students to come out of their comfort zone. Ms. Mohondro said the club is open to anyone interested in video games and anyone wanting to interact with new people. Each semester they have a tournament; whoever wins is going to be honored as the most skilled gamer. #LevelUpSpartans

The El Sausal Middle School wrestling team has been a part of our school for about 16 years! The wrestling team has had good tournaments so far, with the girls side having over 100 points ahead of their opponent teams. The man smiling in the image, Mr Martinez, has been coaching wrestling for 22 years, then continuing in ESMS throughout the years. Students attending wrestling practice claim they will work and practice more so they stay undefeated and build muscle. Most members of the ESMS wrestling team believe wrestling is a hard and competitive sport, but it is worth trying since they will achieve their goals about being fit and knowing the skills on how to wrestle. Outside of wrestling, many students practice their skills and work out in order to be fit and gain muscle. Mr. Martinez plans to continue teaching wrestling until he can’t do it any more because being able to give back to the sport he loves is special to him!
Mr. Martinez is happy with his team's warmups.
