The Salem School District consistently scores in the area of "exceeds expectation" on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction District Report Cards. We have implemented a new Math Program and Reading/Writing Program, with both showing promising results. The request to exceed the revenue limit by $1.5 million annually is crucial to our ability to offer our families strong instructional programming within small class sizes, designed to support the diverse learning needs of our students.
The impact of the pandemic on student learning cannot be overstated. In order to address the academic and social/emotional needs of our students, it is crucial that we retain our high-quality and experienced staff. In this short video, our staff members will share the impact of quality instruction and optimal class sizes.
Maintaining a competitive salary and benefits package for our staff allows us to have a lower turnover than many of our surrounding districts and to attract a strong candidate pool. A failure to pass this operating referendum request to exceed the state revenue cap would leave the district in a much more challenging position and require a reduction of staff in support roles.
