8/22/2020 Week 2 Northern Renaissance
I chose the quote "Commonplace books are, overwhelmingly, messier texts" because what we talked about in class is still sticking with me. After reading Smyth, I agree with him that if you do look for specifically commonplace books you won't find anything unless you broaden what you're looking for. It's like when you're looking for sources, you can't be too specific with key terms because then you will hardly find anything. For me, this quote literally explains my commonplace book. There is no order in my book and although it kills me on the inside, I'd rather have my quotes written chronologically from when I pick them. I know what I'm explaining doesn't go with what Smyth is saying, but it is something that I thought about as soon as I read that.
