Class Overview

In fourth-grade religion, students will learn more about the goodness of God, and they will gain a deeper understanding of the Holy Trinity. Students will study more about the Church, the Sacraments, and the saints. They will practice and learn special prayers and about the rosary. I love to incorporate art and being creative while teaching about the gospel, and we will be diving into scripture making God's word personal to each of our lives and in the lives of those around us who we are called to help.

About me

Hi! My name is Ms. Jessica Zeidler (aka the other "Ms. Z"). This will be my 10th year serving at Saint Hilary School! I will be returning as the fourth grade religion teacher and Academic Enrichment teacher, overseeing the Endeavor program for grades 1-4. I am a native to Marin County, having grown up in Novato and attending San Francisco State University. I am passionate about art and getting creative in our every day tasks. My fiance and I have a wonderful son who is going to be 18 years old this year and has Autism. My life is anything but normal and that's what makes it so great! I am looking forward to being a part of the fourth grade team this year and sharing my testimony to the fabulous Fourth Graders!

Weekly Assignments and Projects

Every week we will cover a new chapter in our textbook. There will be daily in class textbook activities due alongside with fun supplemental individual, partner, and group projects to enhance the students understanding of key themes of our Catholic identity. They will be posted on the learning site bi-weekly depending on what information we are covering.
In the first few weeks you can expect us to cover the parts of mass, key prayers, introduction to The Bible, and learning how to utilize our prayer journals.
For the first year ever, we will be entering into the Mission Dolores Prayer Card Competition to commemorate the 250th anniversary of its founding by Saint Junipero Serra. Students are invited to create a prayer card to either St. Junipero Serra or St. Francis of Assisi. More details to come on this creative and fun innovative project!
Classwork Expectations
All religion work due will be posted on the learning site and in google classroom. We are aligned with Ms.Hansen's expectations and any unfinished classwork will become homework and sent home in their homework folders. Late work will be penalized by 10% for each additional day late turned in.

MASS REFLECTION

Every Tuesday at 11:30 am the fourth grade will attend weekly mass. Religion is at 8th period from (2:15-3:00pm). If you leave for any reason on a Tuesday (personal or elective) you must make up your mass reflection to recieve credit for part of your religion grade. I have attached the reflection below to complete. If you missed mass you can visit the following link to use for your reference. It will have the daily readings and gospel up to date with the details from that days mass.
