Review: Un Elefante

Students learned the beginning of Happy Birthday and reviewed the notes in the song. On Thursday, they practiced the songs that they are memorizing to sing. There is some scat singing in one of the songs for our Christmas program. The students are excited to learn it. There was a lot of giggling and smiles in the room.

These students are continuing to increase their note reading skills/speed using Name That Note. Students may retake their playing assessment of Un Elefante by meeting with Mrs. Faw during one of the available times for extra help (posted above) We will begin Happy Birthday to You this week.

The Fourth Graders took an assessment on note/rest values. This is not averaged into their grade. We will finish Un Elefante this week. I introduced a Treble Clef Note Naming Drill. The students are working on increasing the speed of their note reading skills. Students are able to work at their own level challenging themselves to increase their own speed every time they  complete the drill. All students are on the beginner level currently. When they score a 500, they may move on to the Intermediate level.

Homework: Due on September 24th Continue to practice Un Elefante.

These amazing musicians have learned all of Un Elefante. They should be practicing for 5-10 minutes every day at home using one of their stands and their sheet music. This helps them with their muscle memory and their music reading skills. They will be assessed on this song next week during our music classes. They continue to practice singing their songs: Come Forth Every Day, You Are Good,  If I Were There and  It's a Nice, Nice Christmas in preparation for  our Christmas Concert on December 11th at 6:00 PM.  All students participate in this educational and fun event. Make sure to mark your calendars.

These amazing musicians have learned the first 4 measures of Un Elefante. They should be practicing for 5-10 minutes every day at home using one of their stands and their sheet music. This helps them with their muscle memory and their music reading skills. They continue to practice their songs: Come Forth Every Day, You Are Good and If I Were There.

Homework: Continue playing the first four measures of Un Elefante. Isolate what challenges you. If moving to the F from G is tricky, just practice those 2 notes over and over until you can easilt transition from one note to the other. Always playing from the beginning to the end only practices your mistakes.

Students should be able to sing all of Come Forth Every Day and the Refrain/Chorus of If I Were There by memory.

Another great week in music class. The students continued working on "Un elefante" on the recorder. Remember to use the fingering charts for help when needed. They practiced singing Come Forth Every Day, You Are Good and began If I Were There.

Homework: Practice the first 4 measures of Un Elefante. Be able to play it at a steady tempo. Memorize the lyrics for the first verse and chorus of Come Forth Every Day.

The Fourth Grade had an amazing first week of music classes for the 2024-2025 school year.

We reviewed the Learning Site, Seating arrangement, general classroom rules, began learning "Un Elefante" on the recorder and practiced singing our new school song "Come Forth Every Day."

Homework: Practice the first line of "Un Elefante" so that you can play it with a good tone and keep a steady tempo. Remember that you can access the sheet music on the Learning Site if you forgot your copy at school. You can also access the recorder fingering chart if you need to double check a fingering.

Thank you for a good start on our musical journey of the 24/25 school year.

Reach out through email or speak to me at school if you have any questions.
