The Post Edit Control Room has normally 4 Computers that operate together to create a seamless Live Production Show.
Collaborating with Audio Students, you can also take advantage of the Control Room G for professional Audio Integration.
There is also an option to Live broadcast your video mixes via YouTube, Facebook etc..
Computer #1: Black Mac Pro (Trashcan) - This workstation computer is used for video editing. Video SDI & HDMI IN/OUT ports are available for this computer on the Patchbay.
Computer #2: Silver Mac Pro (Cheese Grater) - This is used only to host the ATEM Software Control for the ATEM 1M/E Production Studio 4K.
Computer #3: iMac#1 - This can be utilised as an upstream feed media play-out system during a Live Production.
Computer #4: iMac#2 - This is solely used for the Teleprompter Software during a Live Production.
SDI*10
HDMI*1
Input No.1 is selectable between SDI and HDMI via settings on the ATEM Software Control App - Note: You cannot use both simultaneously.
Note: There is a known Hardware Failure for the ATEM SDI Input #2 and it cannot be used.
SDI*3
Each Aux Output's source can be configured/selected from the ATEM Software Control App or from the Front Panel Buttons of the device. All 3 of these are hard routed to the inputs of the Hyperdeck Studio Mini's for discrete Camera ISO recording.
SDI*3
HDMI*1
Two of the the PGM Outputs are full workflow compatible whereas the 3rd PGM Out is HD only - labelled (HD)
SDI*4
HDMI*1
BNC*3
Thunderbolt 2 Port*1
There are 4 SDI Channel Input labelled A,B,C,D, as well one HDMI input. As well as these, there are also a collection of 3 BNC inputs to represent the Analog Component/Composite input options. As a further option a Thunderbolt 2 port is available - allowing direct uncompressed video feed/stream to your connected computer.
SDI*4
HDMI*1
BNC*3
Similarly to the input section; there are 4 SDI Channels A,B,C,D, HDMI and BNC Analog Video Outputs which are intended for 'looping' your input video streams out to other devices.
SSD*2
Two high capacity Read/Write speed SSD drives are available for direct recording and playback of the chosen input(s) - using the 'INPUT' button on the front panel. Note these drives are 'Hot-Swappable' and data can be retrieved/copied using an 'SSD Hard-Drive to USB 3.0 Dock' available for hire at the Tech Desk.
SDI*2
HDMI*1
Optical*1
There are 2 SDI Channel Input labelled A & B, as well one HDMI input. These inputs can be scaled, accessed and switched by utilising the buttons on the Front Panel. Note: Channel A has the option to choose between HDMI or SDI as an input source; Channel B is SDI only.
SDI*8
HDMI*2
Optical*1
Across the various outputs we have 2 SDI and 1 HDMI 'Loop' outputs which can be utilised to send the incoming digital video stream out to other devices without processing.
Other outputs include Post Processed Channel A & B Outputs (both SDI and HDMI) as well as 4 SDI 'QUAD 3G Outputs', which are used to output the incoming video stream out to a mosaic-style/multiple screen presentation.
This device is used to conform incoming video streams (via HDMI/SDI/BNC etc..) to the chosen ATEM workflows up to 2160p . The conversion happens in near real-time speeds using the low latency option in the settings. Note, however, it is not recommended for separate Video/Dialogue style workflow as the latency induced is still apparent and distracting.
SDI*1
These 3 devices have only 1 SDI input - which is used as the sole 'Live' video input stream for recording locally on to the SD Cards.
Their input can be assigned from the ATEM Software Panel's Aux drop down menu (labelled Mini IN #1,#2,#3) - normally assigned to Camera #2,#3,#4 respectively for Camera ISO recording.
SDI*2
HDMI*1
There are 2 SDI and 1 HDMI outputs available on these 3 devices. They can be used as a simple 'Loop' Output to other devices as well as an output pathway for recorded media on the SD cards.
Alternatively, when using both SDI outputs simultaneously, Channel A can be utilised as 'FILL' Source and the Channel B can be used as the 'KEY' Source. Such scenarios could be useful for superimposing/keying backgrounds on to 'Live' input feeds with green backgrounds or media with 'Alpha Channels'. Please enquire further with your lecturer/tech team member for information.
SD Card*2
FileZilla/CyberDuck - FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
All 3 of these devices are each connected to the internal network and assigned a Static IP Address.
On 'Computer #1' (Black Mac Pro) in the control room you can remotely access the SD Cards to upload media/content (Video, Images, Audio etc...) ready to stream out using FTP Software such as 'FileZilla', or 'CyberDuck'.
This is a very convenient and efficient method for transferring data to and from the devices without having to remove/re-insert the SD Cards, particularly in 'Live' and 'Mission-Critical' Productions.

2 TRACK - 'MONITOR' Button
This is probably the single most important button on this small format analog console to take note of, so pay attention and understand.
The '2 Track' Input CONNECTION is being fed from the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio Pro SSD Recorder's XLR Outputs.
When the MONITOR button is in the DOWN position the signal sent to the speakers will be the audio from the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio Pro Recorder's XLR Outputs.
When the MONITOR button is in the UP position the signal sent to the speakers will be the mixed audio from the various inputs on the mixer itself. *L-R Main Mix Output - Yellow Faders
IN SHORT
MONITOR Button DOWN PGM Mix Output (HyperDeck Studio Pro SSD Recorder)
MONITOR Button UP Mixed Audio (White/Yellow Faders)
2 TRACK - 'TO MIX' Button
This button is not used and is to remain in the UP POSITION at all times.
DO NOT push/leave in the DOWN Position.

Remote Mic/Kill This switch will actively shut off any active microphone that any channel is transmitting remotely.
Link Toggle this to open or close the 'party line' for all users
Outputs 1-4 Independently toggle each channel to communicate with the recipient.
Call Once pressed it will force the 'Mic' button to flash on the recipient belt pack - signalling them to wear/turn on the belt-pack.
HDMI 1 = ATEM Program Mix Output
HDMI 2 = Screen 2 Copy (of the MacPro #1 Computer - Trashcan)
This screen cannot be used as an 'Extra Desktop Screen', although HDMI Input 2 will show a mirrored copy of computer screen #2 of the MacPro Computer.
This can be useful for presentations in the Post Edit Control, or for showcasing your work directly from your software session.
HDMI 1 = ATEM Multiview Output
HDMI 2 = Not Currently Used (intended for Patchbay in the near future)
This screen is mounted above the Lighting and Audio Rack on the Control Room's right side.
It can be utilised as a PVM (Personal Viewing Monitor) for the Operator of the Sound and Lighting for a show.
