If we are trying to make our room 'sound better', we should start with our listening position... as well as the position of our loudspeakers.
Goal: Locate early reflection points for listening position
Student A sits in ‘mix position’ while student B holds mirror against each wall to find where student A can see the loudspeaker.
Place a post-it note to mark this location
--------------------------------------------
Each group take TWO copies of each DIAGRAM.
Flip one of the diagrams to create a ‘mirror’ of the room.
Using a ruler or straight edge, draw a line between the ear of the listener and the loudspeaker in ‘mirror room’
The point of the wall where the line intersects will be where we need some acoustic treatment
--------------------------------------------
How can we say how much sound is getting into (...or out of) our room
How can we measure acoustic isolation? How can we increase it!??
INSTRUCTIONS:
Set up loudspeaker and SPL meter inside control room.
Set up SPL meter outside control room
Play broadband noise or music in source room
Record values of both SPL meters in this sheet GREEN cells ONLY
