The Financial & Managerial Accounting Saddleback College and IVC Custom “textbook package” bundle includes everything you need for this class; it includes the ‘physical’ loose-leaf Wild 9th edition Financial and Managerial Accounting textbook, the eBook, and the CONNECT Plus homework access code (this textbook package will also be used in Accounting 1B). A special reduced/low price has been negotiated with the publishers for Saddleback/IVC students who purchase the “textbook package.” It is available through the Saddleback College Bookstore website (open the class schedule www.saddleback.edu, search for this class, and click on “book info”). There is a two-week free trial available for both the CONNECT Plus Homework Access Code and the eBook.
Our textbook contains text, exhibits, and sample problems. It’s not the type of textbook that can be read quickly. It has to be read carefully and thoughtfully. Many students find it helpful to read it aloud. It’s important to work through the sample problems (Need-to-Know blue boxes) scattered throughout each chapter to ensure you can put into practice what you are learning.
Homework and the exams/financial statements assessment are administered through McGraw-Hill’s CONNECT Plus Homework Management System. You will need to register and create a student account using the access code provided to you in the textbook package before you can access CONNECT Plus.
To create a student account, follow these directions:
1. Click on the "McGraw Hill Integration" tab on the left side of the screen, click on "Go to my CONNECT Section". You will be taken to the CONNECT website.
2. Click on the REGISTER button near the bottom.
3. To register, provide your Saddleback/IVC e-mail address and press SUBMIT*. Enter the 20-digit code that comes with your textbook in the boxes on the Student Registration page, and click on the Submit button (note: the code is case sensitive; please enter the codes in upper case letters). If you want to purchase only the eBook and access code (NOT recommended), click on “Buy Online.” There will also be an opportunity to register for the free trial pack that expires in two weeks from the date you sign up for it. To obtain the trial pack, click on the “Start Courtesy Access” button in the bottom right corner, and follow the prompts.
You MUST use the same login, name, password, and college e-mail address to access Canvas and Connect. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you encounter any difficulties registering in Connect.
All homework and exams as well as the Financial Statements Assessment need to be accessed and submitted through the course’s Canvas site. You must already have created a student account (see “Access to CONNECT Plus,” above) before you can access CONNECT Plus. To do homework, or other assignments:
• Logon to Canvas for this course.
• Do not bookmark Connect or access the assignments directly through the McGraw-Hill website.
• Click on the "Modules" tab in the left sidebar.
• Select the chapter on which you wish to work.
• Click on the homework, or other assignments on which you wish to work.
• You will be taken immediately to the Connect website and can begin your assignment.
· Don’t try to complete two graded assignments at the same time.
· Remember to always save or submit your work by the due date.
· Each assignment has several options to assist you in being successful:
o Link to eBook (book icon) – provides you a direct link to the eBook version of our textbook.
o Print (printer icon) – allows you to print out the question.
o Save (file cabinet drawer icon) – allows you to save your answers.
o “CHECK MY WORK” (link) – provides you with a quick check of your answers while doing the question to tell you what is right and wrong.
o “HINT #1” (link) – watch a video of a Guided Example showing how to solve an exercise similar to the one you are working on (same exact problem but different numbers).
o The course has been set up for you to have THREE submission attempts of your homework exercises and problems.
