Visual Arts

visual arts overview

The Visual Art program at Claremont offers students diverse opportunities to explore visual arts through drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design and photography. The art courses primarily focus on art making in a studio environment. In this environment the focus is to engage the student in the process and journey of art making. Through this journey students will develop a visual language that will allow them to clearly express their ideas drawn from their imagination and life.  In addition to art making, students will be asked to question and reflect on their work. They will also be introduced to a wider range of art from various cultures, including our First Nations people to gain an understanding and knowledge of others outside of our immediate community.
