We walked into the gym, excited the hours to come. Why? It was science fair day! The day went very well, it was so rewarding to share our research with everyone! We had practiced for hours on end, and it was amazing to see results. All of our work culminated into the following Saturday: awards night. We waited with bated breath as the results of our division, Animal Sciences, were announced. We won 2nd place in our category, and we're moving forward to state science fair in April! It was such an incredible experience and networking opportunity! Now, we are moving onto state science fair and presenting at Colorado-Wyoming Junior Academy of Science (CWJAS).
This past year has been a whirlwind of stress and joy. It was difficult to adjust to the life of parenthood, but we learned to love our flies. From dried media to apple cider vinegar, it was great to work with the best model organisms! We will also miss our incredible classmates! The experiences we had in this class, both professional and personal, made us grow and thrive at school. We are so grateful for these experiences, and for you all, because you have followed us along this journey!
We wanted to give insight into our team, so we decided to give you a reflection of our time in research!
This whole research experience would not have been possible without the help of so many wonderful and helpful people. We'd like to thank our mentors, Laura George and Brenna Dennison, for their advise and expertise, we could always turn to them with our problems and they always had a solution! We'd like to thank our parents for supporting us by going to science fair, project pitch, and everything in between. In addition, the class experimental design wouldn't even exist without Mrs. Petri and Mrs. Fordham, who make us better scientists and people every day by supporting us in and out of the classroom. We'd also like to thank Mr. Winkleman for making our blog posts better and better. Lastly, we'd like to thank our classmates who have always been there to offer help and brighten our days!
