Summer’s here. Westchester has plenty to offer for its residents to be busy all summer long. It has a wide variety of options, whether you want a quiet afternoon, a night of live music, or a fun weekend full of music festivals.
The Summer Fair Circuit arrived and started on June 7th in Downtown White Plains. It will then be moving its highlights to Yonkers on June 13th. After that you'll see it in Valhalla all throughout July and August. The final stop will be on September 13th in Yorktown Heights, at Yorktown Grange Fair Grounds.
There will be plenty of outdoor concerts this summer in Westchester as well. In Ruby Dee Park, Yonkers, a live concert will be hosted every Saturday and there will be free live jazz nights on Wednesdays at Waterfront Park from July through August.
The world cup tournament has also arrived! This summer carries some extra buzz as the region welcomes visitors for the FIFA World Cup. Soccer fans can head to Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla for a free, large-scale watch party for the World Cup Final on July 19. It's a rare chance to enjoy one of the world's biggest sporting events with your community, outdoors, and at no cost.
There are also some more relaxed and low-key summer activities available as well. Westchester's parks offer plenty of ways to get outside, from sunbathing at Rye Beach, Glen Island Park, or Croton Point Park Beach, to camping and hiking at spots like Ward Pound Ridge Reservation and Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park. Public pools, including Saxon Woods in White Plains and Sprain Ridge in Yonkers, are another easy option for beating the heat.
