Ryan Mindich, Grade 11
They told us Senior year would be unforgettable. What nobody mentioned was how quickly it flies by. Senior year of high school is one of the most exciting and memorable times in a student's life. Many students go into the year with high expectations, imagining football games, pep rallies, senior trips, prom, and finally graduating with people you've known since childhood. It is a year filled with fun moments and “lasts” that students will remember forever. Prom is one of the biggest highlights because it gives seniors a chance to celebrate with friends right before graduation. Everyone gets to dress up, and enjoy one of the final events of high school together. Along with all the excitement, Senior year also brings more freedom and responsibility, making students feel more mature as they prepare for their future.
At the same time, Senior year can feel stressful because of college applications and decisions about life after graduation. Many students spend months applying to colleges, writing essays, and thinking about their future careers. Graduation itself is both exciting and emotional because it marks the end of childhood and the beginning of a new chapter. Seniors often expect the year to be perfect but they quickly learn that it goes by much faster than they imagined. Even with the pressure and responsibilities, Senior year is special because it gives students the chance to create lasting memories while preparing for adulthood.
