Homecoming is an annual tradition at schools to bring together students, bring alumni back to campus, and get the community to celebrate school spirit. This is done through a variety of athletic events such as Boys' and Girls' Soccer, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Girls' Tennis, and Football.
At Rye Neck, we have Homecoming every Fall Season. All Varsity fall athletes had a game on Friday or Saturday. This event happened in the middle of the fall sports season, as we celebrated the end of the regular season. Homecoming was a very fun event and drew in a ton of people. Many looked forward to this event since the start of the school year. The week of Homecoming, all schools in the district had a spirit week where there was a different theme that correlated with each day and you got to dress up however you interpreted the theme. On the last day of the week it is always Rye Neck spirit day when everyone dressed in Rye Neck colors and gear. We also had a Pep Rally where the whole school went to the gym, and each team got announced. This year, we had our Pep Rally on October 10th. On Friday, the 10th, Volleyball played their game at 6:30 pm, Girls tennis and Boys Soccer played at 4:30 pm. On Saturday the 11th, Field Hockey played at 11:00 am, Girls soccer played at 12:30 pm, and Football played at 3:00 pm. These games were very exciting and intense to watch! A ton of people, including faculty, staff, parents, and friends, showed up to the games. Everyone showed a lot of school spirit by wearing their Rye Neck colors and merch. Each sports team set up a table outside by the basketball courts and had a bunch of different foods for the fans to have.
Homecoming is a very popular event at Rye Neck. Make sure to mark it on your calendar for next year!
