There are many negative effects that come along with smoking. Smoking can cause multiple problems in almost every system in your body. Some diseases smoking can leave you with are different types of cancers including lung cancer, cancers in your mouth, throat, voicebox, esophagus, stomach, kidney, and even bladder. Other health issues include many respiratory diseases such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and COPD. It is important to remember that these are just some of the diseases you can get, but there are many, many more. There is a chance that if you smoke, you might get lucky and not get any diseases; however, there is still the possibility of getting shortness of breath, wheezing, and persistent coughing.Â
One of the examples listed, lung cancer, is one of the most deadly cancers you can get. It is highly linked with smoking. Smoking can not only leave you with deadly diseases, it can also damage your blood vessels, making them less flexible and thinner. This is seen to make blood pressure higher, and increase your risk of getting a heart attack and/or a stroke. There are millions of chemicals in cigarette smoke that cause the buildup of plaque in your arteries. These multiple diseases listed should already be enough to stop you from smoking. It is important to make sure that we are all informed and staying healthy. (Cleveland Clinic)
