To comprehend what actually happens when you experience anxiety, we must first understand the main signs of an anxiety attack. First, your breathing gets faster, there is a feeling of pins and needles all over your body, everything feels blurry, there can be sweating and/or a tingling sensation in the body. For instance, when warthogs see a tiger, their vision dilates and they start to focus on their prey. They identify the threat and trigger a response whether to fight it or to flee. As for humans, we can get anxiety over financial problems, loneliness, past experiences, health, and more. Because of our personality, we can experience shyness or the feeling of being nervous which increases the risk of anxiety. The amygdala of humans with severe anxiety is overly sensitive. They identify threats in everyday situations and set off these adrenaline chain reactions. The amygdala for clinical anxiety can be different than regular anxiety. Clinical anxiety, also known as anxiety disorder, can build and build into a full-blown crisis making it difficult for people to cope with. The amygdala can also become an emotional memory storage. There’s also a panic disorder, a type of anxiety disorder considered a medical health condition characterized by recurrent, unexpected panic attacks. Panic attacks typically last about between 5 and 20 minutes. It is important to know some signs and symptoms of anxiety.
