For my first concentration I made "Charlie". Charlie is a labor-doodle. To make this project I went through several different steps. first I made the structure out of newspaper and masking tape. Once I had a solid shape I started glueing the fuzz on, the fuzz is pillow stuffing. Then once I finished that step I used buttons to give Charlie a nose and eyes. I chose this as my first concentration since I have a labor-doodle and they are really cute. When I started I was thinking about using yarn to make him but I quickly realized that it wouldn't work so I switched to the pillow stuffing which worked really well. If I could go back and improve it I would add some more fuzz.
For this project I created "Luna the Pug." I mad this based off of a couple images of pugs that I found online. To make this I started of by using newspaper and masking tape to make the structure. Then I found different magazine clips and used paper mache to cover the dog with the magazine parts. I made this pug since pugs are very cute and I thought that it would be a good second project. When I started I was thinking about making the pug all one color but as I worked on it i decided to make it many colors and I am glad that I did since it looks pretty good like this. If I were to go back and make this stronger I would make the pug smother and put more attention into putting the strips of paper on.
For this one I made "Albert the Dachshund." I based Albert off of an image of a Dachshund that I found online. To make this I first sculpted the two halves of Albert out of sculpey then I made the metal spring that I put in the middle. Once this was made I made a bunch of other creatures out of sculpey as well to put in the claw machine with Albert. Then I made the claw machine out of paper. I also made the control panel out of a marble, wire, and sculpey. When I started my project I was only thinking about doing Albert but then I quickly realized that that wasn't gonna take very long so I came up with the idea of making a claw machine. If I were to go back and improve this project I would make some more creature, I would also put more time into making the machine itself.
This was my fourth project for this concentration so I made "Clifford the tiny red dog." Making this project was a lot of work since I felted it out of wool. First I made the body then I made the body then I made the head which I added ears, then I added the eyes. Once the head was done I made the legs and tail. Once all the parts were made I connected all the parts. I chose to make this since I had seen other people in my class felting and it seemed cool. If I were to go back through and improve I would make the eyes the same size, also I would put more time and work into attaching the different body parts.
This was my fifth part of this concentration on dogs. I named this one "Leo" and I made it based off an idea that I came up with off of the top of my head. to make this I went through a couple different steps. To start I glued together a bunch of little wooden slabs to make the main body. Once that was made I added the legs by glueing 8 little wooden nubs to the bottom. The next step was that I added the head by attaching the rock with glue, once this was secure I added wooden ears. Then I added a little wooden tail. The next thing I added were the wings which I made with little wood bits. Once the wings were attached I added a little wire halo and a bone in the dogs mouth. Once all that was done I made a base for the dog. I used a piece of hard styrofoam as the starting point, then I used little metal links to lift it up. Once that was done I decorated it with little bits of colorful foam around the edge. I originally chose this because I was behind and needed something that wouldn't take to many class periods. But as I was working I began to really like and and kept adding more. Also when I started I was just going to make the dog but then ended up adding a base. If I were to go back and improve something I would have covered the whole base in color and also added more detail to the dog. I would also have taken more time working on the project as a whole.
