Daughter of Cheri Rich of Surry and Andrew Sankey of Gouldsboro. Moira is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as vice-president of the Sumner Chapter. She has also served as a class representative and is our school representative on the RSU 24 School Committee. She has been a vital part of the school newspaper, The Roar, for four years. There were times in the beginning that she nearly single-handedly produced each edition. The success she found in the newspaper publications, developed a love of journalism and writing. Moira is graduating with Summa Cum Laude distinction and will continue her educational journey at Wheaton College with a major in English with the goal of entering the journalistic world.
Message from Mrs. Mathewson
Moira has been a student of mine since her freshman year at Sumner. She came in with bright, wide eyes, ready to learn and grow. It has been an absolute pleasure to be her teacher for English, French and Journalism. Throughout Moira's time here at Sumner, Moira has fine-tuned her writing to prepare herself for an English and Journalism course of studies in college. As well, she has acquired a working knowledge of the French and francophone language and culture. Not only that, but she has been an incredible, driving force for our school's newsletter, The Roar. There have been times when she was the sole creator, editor and publisher! I have a plethora of wonderful memories shared with Moira, from laughs in class, to figuring out how she could end her narrative stories, to our French culture night fundraisers, to laughing until our bellies hurt in Journalism class. Moira, from the bottom of my heart, I will miss you, and I know you will find huge success in your future!!!

Dear Moira,
Thank you, for trusting me with your baby. I know how much The Roar means to you! I promise I will do my best to make you proud and don't worry I will send you every edition! I can't wait to visit you in college when I eventually move to Rhode Island. Please pet Shadow for me! So proud of you!
Love,

Moira,
It was a pleasure working with you on the Roar.
Hello Miss Moira Slay,
we met 6 years ago in a band class where I had no clue what I was doing. Pretending to play the flute in concerts was my skill and you continued to try and help me. Throughout the years, we were inseparable and although things grew a little more distant, our bond never broke. I hope to see you at my graduation too :)
Love, Josh
Moira,
Good luck in college, wishing you the best and have fun!
