Mrs. Zielinski Mr. DiMarco
Students will explore all areas of agriculture. Ag- Science 6 takes students through the four main areas of agriculture including Animal Science, Plant Science, Ag Mechanics, and Natural Resources. The goal of this course is to prepare all students to understand the scientific principles and real world applications of agriscience. This course is meant to provide students with a foundation for learning about all the opportunities the agriscience program has to offer to them.
Students expand on what they learned during their sixth grade rotation. Students will be exploring agriculture in Connecticut, and they will be introduced to the National FFA Organization. Students will also further their explorations, learning about the four main areas of agriculture including Animal Science, Plant Science, Ag Mechanics, and Natural Resources. Students will also be introduced to different career opportunities that focus on Agricultural Science. The goal of this course is to prepare all students to understand the scientific principles and real world applications of agriscience.
Students expand on what they learned during their seventh grade rotation. Students will be exploring agriculture in the United States, and they will go more in depth into the FFA and the different types of activities you can do as a part of the organization. Students will continue their learning about the four main areas of agriculture including Animal Science, Plant Science, Ag Mechanics, and Natural Resources. Finally, students will learn about three new areas of agriscience including Food Science, Biotechnology and Veterinary Science.
This course will cover a variety of topics in Agriculture including Animal Science, Plant Science, Agriculture Mechanics, Biotechnology, Natural Resources and Food Science. The focus of these units will include the application of agricultural principles through project based learning. Students will participate in hands-on activities to help them learn industry skills. Opportunities in this class will include work that is done on-site, with possible off-campus opportunities, such as activities at Arethusa.
This course will provide students with a foundation for learning about all the amazing opportunities the agriscience program has to offer them. Sixth grade Agriscience students will learn what agriculture really is and how it is important in their daily lives. Students will explore the four main areas of agriculture Animal Science, Plant Science, Natural Resources and Ag Mechanics.
This fun and interactive course is designed to get students excited to learn all about agriculture. Students will participate in hands on activities such as handling and caring for our small animals, planting seeds, observing and creating their own wildlife tracks, and properly identifying and using common hand tools. This course will also allow students to engage in collaborative projects with classmates to deepen their own understanding of agriscience.
This course will focus on agriculture in Connecticut, and the National FFA Organization. Seventh grade Agriscience students will expand on what they learned during their sixth grade rotation. They will have the opportunity to explore in more depth the four main areas of agriculture including Animal Science, Plant Science, Ag Mechanics, and Natural Resources. The goal of this course is to prepare all students to understand the scientific principles and real world applications of agriscience.
This course is designed to get students excited to expand their knowledge of the four main areas of Agsci. Students will participate in hands on activities such as FFA Parli Pro, wildlife identification and observation, touring animal facilities, meeting and handling companion and farm animals, seed dissection and seed planting, creating a floral design piece, planning a landscape design and identifying and working with different hand tools. This course will also allow students to engage in collaborative projects with classmates to continue to build upon their own understanding and knowledge of agriscience.
This course will focus on agriculture in the United States, the National FFA and all of the different types of activities students can participate in as part of the organization. Eighth grade Agriscience students will expand on what they learned about the four main areas of agriculture during their seventh grade rotation. They will also have the opportunity to explore three new area of agriscience including Food Science, Veterinary Science, and Biotechnology. Finally, students will have the opportunity to explore real life agriscience career opportunities.
Students will participate in hands on activities focused on FFA career development, farm to table explorations, planting and growing seeds, preparation of food products, companion animal care, handling and grooming, breed identification, animal behavior labs, and biotech exploration activities. This course will allow students to engage in collaborative projects with classmates to continue to build upon their own understanding and knowledge of agriculture and prepare them for exciting AgSci opportunities in high school and beyond.
