While I've only been a Texan for the past four years, I've been a Southerner all my life. Oklahoma is where my origins lie, followed by Tennessee, then Arkansas for college. When I'm not teaching, I'm either running, sketching, taking photos, flipping through a fashion magazine, reclining at an Alamo drafthouse, or wedding planning with my wonderful fiance, Dan! My excitement for December 13th doubles in size each day!:)
I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to teach kindergarten, first, and second grade across my five years of teaching. Each classroom community I have been a part of holds such a special place in my heart. My students mean the world to me, and I try to soak up each new day with them! Their creativity, bravery, confidence, cleverness, and kindness fill me with gratitude not only for who they are but for the families who have helped shape them!
It is important to me that the environment that my students walk into every day is safe, calm, encouraging and collaborative–
a place where challenges are embraced, where mistakes are seen as helpful tools, and where student discovery is in abundance. My hope is that students walk away from a year in my room not only equiped with the tools, knowledge, and strategies necessary for the academic journey ahead, but equiped with patience, humility, compassion, and endurance for the journey of life ahead as well.
Here's to an amazing year!
