Turning the Tempo
A podcast discussing the Roslyn Marching Band
Hosted by Corey Miller
The Roslyn Bulldog Marching band is characterized as a tight-knit unit. Many members often liken the group to an extended family, citing close bonds and endless support. These rich relationships are anchored in a culture that has been developed over the course of nearly two decades, and many of those seeds were planted in Roslyn High School's band room.
It's not just a rehearsal space or a classroom. The band room has become a member in its own right, offering safe haven to young musicians who want to talk about, create, and play music with one another before the first bell rings and well after the last bus has left.
Join Corey Miller as he explores how a physical spaces can yield a championship band.

In this premiere episode of Turning the Tempo, host Corey Miller discusses how the Roslyn Marching Band's heated rivalry with the Mineola Mustangs fueled the club's unparalleled progress over the last ten years.
Roslyn's musicians play their instruments with passion and they march with purpose. That drive and determination is anchored in lessons facilitated by the band's committed staff, who have created a culture of empathy and support, reminiscent of a family.
The season commences every March when the band starts from scratch, putting together the pieces that will become a show. With a competitive landscape, the Roslyn Bulldogs still managed to obtain 7 first place titles throughout the 2024 season ("Roslyn Marching"). Despite Mineola's stellar reputation, Roslyn managed to triumph at the overarching championship competition in Syracuse, exemplifying their deep commitment to their show.
