The Tik Tok Ban

Tik Tok is is a popular social media platform that allows people to watch and create short-form videos. Recently, there has been national security worries regarding Tik Tok and the fact that it is ultimately controlled by the Chinese government. This raised concerns throughout Congress in regards to how US Citizens' private data is being accessed and shared.

Stella Torshizi, a sophomore at Roslyn High School, is an avid supporter of Tik Tok and uses it as both a way to express herself and attain information. She thinks this digital cornerstone of American communication should be saved.

The History Around Us Ep3: Relics of Roslyn: The Horse Tamer Statue

Thirteen years ago, Roslyn High School alumni organized to restore an enormous, yet dilapidated and in ruins statue known as the “Horse Tamer.” A decade, lots of controversy, and $150,000 later, the statue has been resurrected, restored and returned to the front entrance of Roslyn High School.

To find out more, tune into this episode where host Sydney Spier explores the history of the Mackay Estate, the Horse Tamer statue, the significance of the statue's home at Roslyn High School today, and the importance of school districts on Long Island.

Roslyn Roundup Ep4: Groundbreaking

Over the past two decades, Roslyn High School's sports teams have improved dramatically. It's not uncommon to find the Bulldogs in a playoff bracket or taking home a 1st place trophy. But many of RHS' sports facilities are outdated or in disrepair.

To address the issue, Roslyn has broken ground on a major renovation project that will result in a new baseball field, new soccer field, and new tennis courts. Max Cohen tells the story of how the work got started, how much it will cost, and why, he thinks, it's worth every penny.

Turning the Tempo Ep2: The RHS Band Room

The Roslyn Bulldog Marching band is characterized as a tight-knit unit. Many members often liken the group to an extended family, citing close bonds and endless support. These rich relationships are anchored in a culture that has been developed over the course of nearly two decades, and many of those seeds were planted in Roslyn High School's band room.

It's not just a rehearsal space or a classroom. The band room has become a member in its own right, offering safe haven to young musicians who want to talk about, create, and play music with one another before the first bell rings and well after the last bus has left.

Why It's Important to Remember the Berlin Wall

The Berlin Wall and its destruction aren't exactly topics at the dinner table anymore. The structure created two distinct countries, illustrating the detriments of Communism and the benefits of a capitalist democracy. Join host Ethan Vishnick as he discusses why knowledge of the wall and its impact is more important to know now than ever before.

Women in Wrestling

Believe it or not, women participating in certain sports is still controversial in today's society. Women receive criticism for doing things that can be seen as "masculine," which is both negative and  abundant, especially in a contact sport like wrestling.

Terrific Teacher Talks Ep2: Rethinking College Names with Dr. Wesley

Harvard is one of the most iconic and coveted private schools in the world, but, after doing some research, I found that Harvard isn’t as perfect as it seems.

According to current Harvard Student and editor of The Harvard Crimson, Isaac R Mansel, 47% of Harvard students confessed to cheating, which was nearly double the amount recorded in 2023. And since 1960, the average study time in Harvard is a third of what it once was.

So, has Harvard really lost its shine? Listen to my latest episode below in which I uncover the truth of the matter and explain the importance of college in this day and age.

Terrific Teacher Talks Ep1: Sorenson the Baller

Mr. Sorenson is a Physical Education teacher and lacrosse coach at Roslyn High School on Long Island. Since he was a kid, he trained to be the best basketball player he could be by shooting over 100 times every day on two hoops on his garage.

And he did this for years, spending thousands of hours mastering his shooting motion. But Mr. Sorenson didn't stop at basketball. He applies this work ethic to everything he does, and he believes once you have a framework, a belief system, you can be successful at anything.

RosPod One Shots:  Did DOGE Help or Hurt?

It's not uncommon to hear people gripe about government spending. The national debt keeps on climbing, and there seems to be no way to fix this.

Recently, President Trump recruited billionaire Elon Musk to balance America's books. Musk, for a very short period of time, helmed the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.

While DOGE was pretty active by making some big spending cuts and eliminating thousands of jobs, many argue that their rush to do so caused irreparable damage to critical programs and likely hurt millions of Americans.

Damien Schmidt, a recent Roslyn High School graduate, asks the question, was DOGE good or bad for the country?

RosPod One Shots:  Delilah

This eerie podcast hosted by Gia Patane is an experiment in soundscape design intended to build an immersive world defined by tension, emotion, and imagination. By mixing natural, atmospheric sounds with voice acting, Gia draws the listener into a world where every creak, whisper, and distant noise means something, creating a more direct connection to settings and scenes.

Gia recorded natural sounds around her house—things like doors closing, footsteps, foil crinkling, and floorboards creaking— to add authenticity and depth to the story. Gia provides vocals for the Old Lady and the Little Girl while Gia's dad takes on the role of the Father.
