Welcome to Maths

What will we be doing in Year 7?

We will cover a range of different topics from number skills, to shapes and space, algebra, data, graphs, and constructions. We will be working on your maths fluency as well as developing your problem solving skills. Your Times Table knowledge is still really important and once a week you will use your knowledge to compete in Numeracy Ninjas!

Lots of you probably use MyMaths at the moment and we will continue to use that at Robert May’s School as well as using some online books from Kerboodle. Once a fortnight you will have a lesson on the Chromebooks and use online maths resources.

Below are a list of games, puzzles, websites and activities that you could engage with, if possible, to develop your subject knowledge on topics you will cover in Year 7.

Games and Puzzles

Problem solving is a really important skill and this can be developed by simply playing games such as Cluedo, Connect 4, Card Games, Monopoly, Rummikub, Draughts. Anything that gets your brain thinking! Even Scrabble is good as you have to add up your scores!

Websites

Maths Is Fun is a great website for puzzles and logic activities.

Hit The Button  is a brilliant website for our maths fluency and also improving our thinking speed.

Sumaze  is an app but it can also be played online too. It really gets you thinking! Some of the higher levels are designed for older students but can anybody complete more than 2 levels!?
