Welcome to Computer Science
What will we be doing in Year 7?
Understand several key algorithms that reflect computational thinking [e.g. bubble sorting and linear searching]
Design, use and evaluate computational abstractions that model the state and behaviour of modern real-world problems and physical systems
Use programming languages including Python and Small basic, to solve a variety of computational problems
Understand simple boolean logic and some of its uses in circuits and programming
Understand how numbers can be represented in binary, and be able to carry out simple operationsÂ
Understand the hardware and software components that make up computer systems, and how they communicate with one another and with other systems. Participating in competitions to design Computers!
Understand how instructions are stored and executed within a computer system; understand how data of various types (including text, sounds and pictures) can be represented digitally in the form of binary digits
Undertake creative projects including GDevelop the use Object Oriented Programming - platform games!
Participate in a variety of creative Computing Projects and Competitions, such as Digital Escape Room, Cardboard Computers, Cybersecurity Websites!
Explore Computing literature involving diverse Computer Science pioneers
Understand a range of ways to use technology safely, respectfully, responsibly and securely, including protecting their online identity and privacy; recognise inappropriate content, and know how to report concerns
