"A-G" Requirements

UC/CSU "A-G" Requirements

  • Students planning to attend a 4-year public California University must complete the UC/CSU "A-G" Requirements.

  • Students MUST pass all requirements with a C or better.

  • The transparent graduation caps indicate a recommendation but not a requirement.

Keep the following in mind:

  • If you earn a D/F in a required subject, you MUST repeat it in Credit Recovery or Summer School.

  • The only way to repair the GPA impact of a D or F is to repeat the EXACT same course. That means any courses repeated in a credit recovery class will NOT replace the GPA points of an AP or Honors course, but it WILL satisfy the A-G requirement.

  • While there are a number of classes that we designate as Honors/AP at Poly, not all will receive the Honors GPA bump for UC/CSU admission. Please check the Poly course list to confirm which classes earn A-G honors credit. They are denoted with an orange star. If courses do not have a star, they will not count for honors credit in your UC/CSU GPA, but they will be weighted as a part of your comprehensive Poly GPA.

  • College courses will not be weighted in your Poly GPA, but WILL BE weighted in your UC/CSU GPA.

  • There are certain classes that will validate missing or deficient lower requirements in the areas of math and foreign language. The rules vary between UC and CSU, so if you have questions, please ask your counselor.
