Transcripts are a complete and official record of your academic performance in high school. Virtually all colleges and universities will require a copy of your transcript for their college application. Armed forces, scholarship agencies, and employers may also ask for a copy of your high school transcripts.
When ordering an official transcript, keep any recipient deadlines in mind.
Transcripts will be sent within 24-48 business hours of being requested, though it may take longer during busier periods.
TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS CANNOT BE FULFILLED DURING WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS.
RUSD uses Parchment services for official transcript requests. Seniors will be emailed in early Fall with this information but all current students are welcome to create an account.
Go here to setup your account: https://www.parchment.com/u/registration/23979115/account
Click on "New Learner" and set up your account.
DO NOT USE YOUR SCHOOL EMAIL to set this account up. You must use a personal email address.
Most institutions will require an official transcript. This means the transcript will be sent directly from the high school to the institution requesting it. An official transcript should never be opened or accessed by anyone except the person for whom it is intended, otherwise, it is no longer considered official. Students needing to send an official transcript should use Parchment. See instructions below on how to order.
An unofficial transcript will have all the same information, but the main difference is it can be given to or downloaded directly by the student or parent. If you are wanting to take a look at your transcript without sending it to a college or other institution, you can download an unofficial transcript on Aeries.
Parchment is intended to send official transcripts from one academic institution (your high school) to another academic institution or to someone specific at a college, scholarship organization, armed forces, etc.
Do not use Parchment to send transcripts to yourself. Information may not be accurate. Please see "How to download an unofficial transcript" if you would like a copy of your transcript for yourself.
To order official transcripts, follow these steps:
Go here to setup your account or login: https://www.parchment.com/u/registration/23979115/account
When creating an account for the first time, be sure to use a personal email address.
If prompted, search "Martin Luther King High School" as the Sending School.
From the Dashboard, click the green Order button.
Click Destination.
Select "Academic Organization/Admissions Office" to send to an organization or college/university. This is the most common method.
Select "Yourself or an individual" if you have been asked to send your transcripts to a specific person or email. YOU SHOULD NOT SEND YOURSELF YOUR OWN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS. They will no longer be official. See "How to Download an Unofficial Transcript" if you would like a copy of your transcripts for yourself.
Click "Save and Continue" and verify your recipient information.
Sign the Consent Form and finalize the order. Transcripts are free to send while an RUSD student.
When you are ordering transcripts, there will be an option to "Send Now" or "Hold for Grades".
Select "Send Now" to send your current transcripts. This may include in-progress classes and an actual grade may not be reflected.
Select "Hold for Grades" if you would like to wait until final semester grades are posted before your transcript is sent out. You can order your transcripts ahead of time, but they will not be sent until semester or end-of-year grades have posted. Seniors, use this option in your Spring semester when requesting that your final high school transcript be sent to the college you will be attending the following school year.
If you have taken ANY college classes at ANY college, you will need to order transcripts through your college. MLKHS transcripts will not count for verifying college courses.
Parents and students have the ability to print unofficial transcripts through Aeries. These steps should be done from a computer or the "full portal" through the app.
Login and then go to GRADES menu.
In the GRADES drop down menu, you will see "TRANSCRIPTS".
Once all the grades appear, if you would like to print, scroll all the way to the bottom and hit "PRINT." It will run a report.
Click "VIEW REPORT." You will see the transcript and you can then save it or print it.
You can also reach out to your counselor to get an unofficial transcript copy emailed to you.
When you send Current Transcripts, all previously completed semesters will reflect the final grades received for each class taken each semester. In addition, it will also show your "Work in Progress" coursework for the semester or year. These transcripts will reflect the coursework you are currently attempting, but no grades will be listed.
Seniors, if any college asks for a 7th semester transcript, that means that once Fall semester grades have posted, you'll need to forward those grades to the school before an admissions decision is made. You can request your 7th semester transcripts ahead of time by selecting "Hold for Grades" when ordering transcripts during Fall semester of your senior year. Keep in mind college deadlines.
Your final transcripts will be available after your Spring semester grades have posted. These transcripts will include all grades, from your first semester of 9th grade to your final semester as a senior. You should send your final transcript to the school you have sent your Statement of Intent to Register. Students continuing into community college should also send final transcripts to the community college they will be attending. You can request your final transcripts ahead of time by selecting "Hold for Grades" when ordering your transcripts on Parchment. This should be done during the Spring semester and once a student has finalized their decision as to which college/university they will be attending the following Fall.
If you have additional questions, please visit Parchment's FAQ, reach out to your counselor or our school's registrar, Mrs. Collopy.
